The written word is honoured at this festival held on the Saturday closest to esteemed novelist Margaret Laurence’s July 18th birthday. The Kawarthas is an ideal location for this celebration, as it was home to such writers as Margaret Laurence, Robertson Davies, Timothy Findley and Catharine Parr Traill. Authors who have read at the festival include Charlotte Gray, Ann-Marie MacDonald and Jack Batten.
